- Day 1 is in the books at The National with the hopes of Buying Vintage Baseball Cards. I did make one big vintage baseball cards pickup! I will share it at the end of the trip.
Had a great time meeting some new people as well as re-connecting with some I have not seen in quite some time. A lot of people got some big vintage baseball cards today, including myself.
This video takes you on a walkthrough, please enjoy and be ready for Day 2's video tomorrow!

I’m still catching up on National videos but it’s actually been cool to see footage like this, weeks later, to remind me how great the week was. I didn’t see those amazing HR Derby cards. I must have went back to look at those cases with the Stahl Meyers, Coke tips, etc. from Bill Chappell about 5-6 times because it was so awesome to see. It was nice getting to meet you Sammy!
Bill Chappell brought out the heat
Nice show footage, Sammy. The guy that had the stack of ‘54 Stahl-Meyers had some cool stuff. Have fun
Thanks man. That was William Chappell’s table. He brought some incredible cards!
I rarely get tired of seeing and listening to these types of videos at The National. It was nice to meet you.
Thank you! Plenty of content to share amongst the many that you also met! Glad to have met you too!
Hey Sammy, thanks for the walk around, your filming of the tables is really good, feels unrushed.
Thanks Rob. I’m glad you really enjoyed them
There was definitely pre-war for days there, it was really cool to see!
It was a nice sight to see!
Great video Sammy. So much awesome vintage.
Thanks so much man. Hope we can hang out at a card show prior to Strongsville next year.
@@SammyThunder yeah man, would love that
Thanks for taking me to the show. Cleveland looks great!
Thanks Larry! Glad you enjoyed the content
Hi Sammy,
Thanks for your video of Day 1 of The National. As usual you have made a great production of the cards on sale! I really enjoy your pace of looking at the cards.
Have a great time and be safe.
Best Wishes,
Peter
Thank you Peter. You have been really supportive of my content for so long now. It’s very encouraging!
@2:46 Big cart for a can of Pepsi. @6:31 Wow- High Grade Mantles are not cheap.
@10:36 That's some old gum. @19:55 1957 Swift Meats Body Parts - Yikes. Great Video!!!
Hah. Thanks man. One more tomorrow
Thanks for taking us along to the National with your awesome footage Sammy!! For many of us that will never be able to attend this event your videos are priceless!! So many amazing cards!! I would be like a kid in a candy store!! Looking at the prices of some of these cards it looks more like Fort Knox!! Hoping you will find special treasures for your collection!!
Thank you so much. I’m glad I can create an engaging video. I’ll be making another one tomorrow showing my pickups
I knew I could count on you to make ANOTHER great video!!! Thanks Sammy!
One more tomorrow! 😎
Amazing, thanks for the tour
Thank you for watching
Great video. It was great meeting you Sammy. I actually brought the '54 Red Heart Ted Kluszewski that is seen at the 3:49 mark of the video.
That’s awesome! Good seeing you man!
11:11 - that 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth with the red back-drop is one of my dream cards!! I LOVE the look of it! Now, just simply come-up with $12k and it's mine.😄
I'd have to sell a lot of big cards to get that Ruth. Hopefully you get it some day!
Great video. Who’s table was at around 830-845 mark?
Thanks for the video of day 1. Beautiful eye candy.
Tons of eye candy. So sweet!
Some GREAT vintage Sammy! The prices look a little inflated, but I am used to smaller shows with deals.
Thanks PMan. Definitely a different scenario. There were deals to be made, just took more time to find them
Thanks for the tour! Saw some cards I needed, but the prices were a little high on them.
Prices definitely seemed high. There were some deals to be made. What items did you see?
Awesome video Sammy! Just getting caught up on everyone’s content. I did spy a pretty cool card in this video that I think someone bought 😜.
Lol. I wonder who?
Thanks for sharing!😊
Yeah man! 😎 happy to do it.
Great video Sammy!
Thanks Ray! More to come!
Next Year! Bucket List!!!
Chicago!
Gave a video like. Thanks for sharing
Thanks man!
Hello, thanks you for sharing and Enjoy the National.
Thanks so much 😎
Thanks ST! I really enjoyed that footage especially the Gibson at around 6:50 but I dont know about that LH Seaver at around 23:40!
Im guessing you bought that Matty early on in the vid.
The Gibson was so cool to see. I’ve never seen those reverse negative slides or images. They were definitely unique
Hey man - love the footage. I’ve been looking for that Ty Cobb colgans chips at 10:40. Anyway we can work out a deal on that?
Thanks Steve. Unfortunately, I believe it was picked up by the time I went back.
Shows looks fun. Some very nice cards there
Thanks Peter. It was a lot of fun!
It’s like i was there. Thanks Sammy. PS, if you decide not to grade your 77 Munson let me know!
I’m so glad that was your takeaway! I’ll let you know about the Munson!
Nice video!
Thanks Keegan
Chuck Blue @ 6:20 hahaaaaa
Yes sir 😎
@@SammyThunder 😁 Chuck is a CT legend! Bring back some good inventory Sammy , See ya in one of the CT shows
Who ran the Regional table around the 12 minute mark?
That was William Chappell.
Here's 'what I've said before " You sure you ain't Neil Armstrong?....because you're prices are to the MOON. I't's too bad...because there's a few things I do like." Before you know it, they'll start working with you......Claim you're a dealer...and when they ask for business card, just tell them that you forgot them....
19:57 I searched the entire show for Swift meats and didn’t see them and here they are all in one display case. SMH
Yeah man, as soon as I saw that table, I was able to see that they were one of the only tables to have them. I assume you were looking for some?
@@SammyThunder yes the Jim Gilliam in that set is what I need to add to my set run. It’s virtually impossible to find
yeah....here's what else I've done to.....One of my BIGGEST pet peeves are assholes who don't have ANYTHING priced. I go up to them...flash my wad of cash and then say, 'Hey...there's this great invention....it's called "price tags"...and when you finally get around to discovering them.....let me know and maybe I'll spend some money with you."....and then I WALK.
I've gone up to dealers who I did that to a year ago...and the next year....they have price tags.....and then I say, "Hey...good to see you got with the program...now...let's see IF THIS YEAR. we can FINALLY make a deal". Yeah...I"m a prick...and I like it that way. I'm a dealer so yeah...I throw my weight around (and my money) to get my way.
Anyone who's worked with me, KNOWS that IF you treat me well....they have a customer for life.....and there are those who know that I will NEVER do business with them because they wouldn't work with me initially.
I have done this..."Okay, I"m giving you a 2nd chance...we couldn't make a deal last year....let's see if we can THIS YEAR."......Usually they bend on that 2nd chance....
Remember...YOU got the power....they don't.....
